PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output keyword explanation information which is not output to an electronic dictionary, to external equipment. SOLUTION: An electronic dictionary display/reproduction part 11 outputs keyword explanation information. An electronic dictionary exclusive data storage part 14 stores data format keyword explanation information which can be output by the electronic dictionary display/reproduction part 11. A data storage part 15 for external equipment stores the data format keyword explanation information which can be output by the external equipment 4 and which are not output to the electronic dictionary display/reproduction part 11. An electronic dictionary input part 17 accepts the designation of a keyword. An electronic dictionary control part 12 specifies keyword information explaining the meaning of a keyword whose designation has been accepted by the electronic dictionary input part 17, that is, the data format keyword explanation information which can be output by the external equipment 4, and which is not output to the electronic dictionary display/reproduction part 11. An electronic dictionary communication part 16 transmits the keyword explanation information specified by the electronic dictionary control part 12 to the external equipment 4.
