PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor capable of adsorbing an adsorbing substance for adsorbing a sensing target substance in a sample solution and a blocking substance for suppressing the adsorption of the adsorbing substance on a first vibration region and capable of adsorbing the blocking substance on the electrode of a second vibration region by a simple technique for supplying a liquid to the surfaces of first and second excitation electrodes, and a sensing method. SOLUTION: A solution containing the adsorbing substance is supplied to a first liquid housing space 53A surrounding the first excitation electrode 42A to adsorb the adsorbing substance on the surface of the excitation electrode 42A and a solution containing the blocking substance is subsequently supplied to the first liquid housing space 53A to adsorb the blocking substance on a region where the adsorbing substance on the excitation electrode 42A is not adsorbed. Further, the solution containing the blocking substance is supplied to a second liquid housing space 53B, which surrounds the second excitation electrode 42B and is separated from the first liquid housing space to adsorb the blocking substance on the surface of the second excitation electrode 42B.
