The invention relates to a tire (1) with a device for providing mechanical energy. The tire is characterized in that the device has at least two legs (4) that can move relative to each other in a jointed movement and that are located on the inside of a contact surface of the tire, wherein a distance between the legs can be altered by means of the jointed movement. According to the method, a rolling movement deforms the tire in such a manner that results in the jointed movement of the legs, thereby providing the mechanical energy. The invention can be used for autonomous power supply in tire control systems.
