<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system having simple and inexpensive circuit construction for preventing the malfunction of a phase control type light control circuit due to the insufficiency of a minimum holding current while using one light control circuit for efficiently lighting one or more illumination light sources. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting system 1 includes one light control circuit 2 for controlling the conduction angle of an alternating current to be supplied from a commercial AC power supply Vac to control the phase of a current to be supplied to the illumination light sources 6l-6n, and driving circuits 7l-7n for driving the illumination light sources 6l-6n, respectively. The driving circuits 7l-7n have rectifying circuits 3l-3n, smoothing circuits 4l-4n, and lighting circuits 5l-5n, respectively.
