<p>The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for controlling user side power consumption in a fixed telephone network, wherein the method includes: determining that the user side which is in a block status in the fixed telephone network is a caller; detecting that the current flowing through the user side is beyond a predetermined value; initiating timing, and if the current of the user side is always beyond the predetermined value during the timing period, then controlling the user side power consumption. The present invention can control the power supply load of the user side effectively and extend the life of a network element.</p> |
