<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a glass preform with a high yield. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a glass preform, the glass preform is manufactured through a fixing process, a deposition process, a pulling process, a clarification process and a consolidation process, in the order. In the deposition process, when being partitioned by a prescribed position P<SB>1</SB>where a distance in the direction from one end 12a (position P<SB>2</SB>) of a seed rod pipe 12 to the tip part 11a (position P<SB>0</SB>) of a starting rod 11 is 30 mm or more, the moving speed when depositing glass fine particles into a second range from the position P<SB>1</SB>to a position P<SB>3</SB>over a part of the seed rod pipe 12 is made lower than the moving speed when depositing the glass fine particles into the first range from the position P<SB>1</SB>over the tip part 11a (position P<SB>0</SB>) of the starting rod 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
