<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select light having a wavelength of a narrow band to tune the wavelength in a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: In a wavelength-tunable light source, a light source and optical amplifier 11 for emitting light of amplified spontaneous emission and amplifying input light is used, the light of amplified spontaneous emission is allowed to enter a wavelength selector 17 through a directional coupler 12, and light having a desired wavelength is selected. The selected light is separated by a polarization separator 19 according to a polarization direction, and again amplified by the light source and optical amplifier 11. Then, by changing the polarization direction and again selecting a wavelength by the wavelength selector 17, light having the selected wavelength of a narrow band is outputted in a simple structure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
