INSTRUMENT AND METHOD FOR MEASURING THICKNESS OF RAIL OR RUNWAY OF PLAY FACILITIES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for measuring the thickness of a rail or runway of play facilities which do not require much inspection time and can be reduced in cost. SOLUTION: The moving body 4 running on the rail 1 having a gradient under its own weight is loaded with a thickness meter 7 for measuring the thickness of the rail 1 and a distance meter 30 for measuring the running distance of the moving body 4. The data of the thickness measured by the thickness meter 7 and the data of the running distance measured by the distance meter 30 are subjected to signal processing by an arithmetic device 35 and it is evaluated whether the abrasion quantity of the thickness of the rail 1 of the play facilities is below a predetermined quantity. Since the thickness data and the distance data can be obtained while running the moving body 2 under its own weight, inspection can be completed in the short time required until the running of the moving body 2 on the rail 1 is completed.
