<p>A system of streaming data, preferably control plane data, between two network entities of a wireless communication system, preferably a 3GPP LTE system, comprising: transmitting data from a first network entity, preferably a eNodeB, to a second network entity, preferably a MME, in a stream including a designated stream portion indicating a stream priority; and processing the stream in the second and preferably the first network entity in accordance with the stream priority. The stream priority may influence at least one of: service level; order of transmission; response stream priority; and probability of the data being discarded during congestion. The control portion is preferably within a data chunk of a stream control transmission protocol (SCTP) stream and more preferably in a control field. The stream priority may be specified as a function of a protocol layer. First and second network entities may exchange supported priorities during association initialisation preferably using INIT and INIT ACK chunks.</p> |
