METHOD FOR PROLONGING THE STORAGE LIFE OF THE FRUITS OF OIL PLANTS

The invention relates to a method for prolonging the storage life of the fruits of oil plants. In order to achieve such a prolonged storage life without a protective layer applied to the surface of oil plant fruits, the inventive method comprises the steps of providing fruits to be impregnated and of bringing the fruits to be impregnated in contact with carnosol and/or carnosolic acid in the presence of a supercritical gas and at a temperature ranging from -10 °C to 90 °C until the treated fruits have a content of carnosol and/or carnosolic acid ranging from 0.1 to 1000 PPM. The oil plant fruits hereby impregnated with carnosol and/or carnosolic acid are considerably less susceptible to oxidation and, as a result, have a significantly longer storage life.
