Has a first stage for modelling analytically electromagnetic fields as a function of the co-ordinates of a detector, a first field (B0) being created by a transmitter, a second field (B1) being created by the currents induced in a carrier of the first field, a third field (B3) being created by the electrical currents or magnetic effects induced in the moving system by the two fields (B0+B1). The electromagnetic effect of each field characterised independently with the effects of the other fields by the coefficients of its own model. A second real time calculating stage calculates the position and orientation of the detector by using the current value of the electromagnetic field at the detector and by using the field models (B0-B3) of the first stage. The position and orientation of the detector is defined from the measured field (Bm) from which the third field (B2) has been subtracted.
|
