Device for controlling the throughput of fluids through microfluid channels, method for operating same and application of same

The device has a substrate (3) in which microfluidic channels (4) are placed. The channels are formed such that each channel has contact points (5) with heating elements e.g. ohmic resistors or diodes. The heating elements for each of the contact points are connected by two sets of conductor paths. The conductor paths are pair-wisely combined, and are controlled by control lines. The conductor paths and the heating elements are provided on a board (2) that joins to a cooling element (8) i.e. cooling rib structure. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling flow of fluid.
