SCROLL COMPRESSOR

A scroll compressor (A) provided with a partition wall (25) dividing an inner space of a casing (1) into a discharge chamber (22) and suction chamber (23) and having a discharge port (25b) allowing communication between the discharge chamber (22) and suction chamber (23), a check valve (27) for preventing a gas from flowing from the discharge chamber (22) to the suction chamber (23), and a scroll compression mechanism (3) provided in the suction chamber (23) with a space (36) left between the same mechanism and the partition wall (25) and adapted to discharge a compressed gas to the space (36). In this scroll compressor (A), a valve means (31) having a seal member (32) is provided in the space (36), the valve means being adapted to shut off inner and outer sections (34, 35) of the space (36) from each other during a normal operation of the scroll compressor, and allow communication between the inner and outer sections (34, 35) during an antiphase operation thereof. During an antiphase operation of the scroll compressor, the frictional heat occurring in free end surfaces of helical members (10b, 11b) of fixed and movable scrolls (10, 11) is discharged reliably to the outside of the scroll compression mechanism (3), whereby the seizure of the free end surfaces of the helical members (10b, 11b) is prevented.
