A power connector for a domestic appliance (e.g. cordless appliance) comprises a central terminal and at least three peripheral terminals distributed around the central terminal, the peripheral terminals being substantially equally spaced from the central terminal. At least one of the peripheral terminals may be a low voltage signal terminal. Additional terminals may be arranged further from the central terminal than the peripheral terminals. The terminals may comprise a projecting pin that is substantially free of insulating material and sealed within a housing by a sideways compression seal. The connector may include an adapter comprising a contact portion connected to a resilient contact provided on, or around, a distal end of the pin, and an adapter terminal electrically connected to, or integrated with, the contact portion. A rotatable shutter, or a seal with apertures or slits through which pin pass, may be included to waterproof the connector. A plurality of fixing points may be unevenly distributed around the periphery of the connector for fixing the connector to an appliance part. Corresponding terminals of plug and socket parts may be arranged to make electrical contact at a plurality of different relative orientations. |
