PURPOSE: A device for measuring the shape of steel material and a measuring method thereof are provided to improve productivity and working efficiency by measuring the shape of steel material using a camera regardless of the kid of steel material. CONSTITUTION: A device for measuring the shape of steel material comprises an image taking unit(100) and a controller(200). The image taking unit is arranged in a production line of steel material. The image taking unit outputs the image of the steel material as image signals. The controller determines the abnormality of the profiles of the steel material using the image signals. The controller outputs the control signals which drive a mobile unit(300).
