PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting operation characteristics of a shutter is provided to embody an electronic leading curtain by detecting a shutter's operation characteristics. CONSTITUTION: A reset scanning unit(1020) performs reset scanning about the pixels. A light intensity detection unit(1040) detects the quantity of light of the pixels. A light intensity calculate unit(1050) respectively adds up a detected first quantity of light and a detected second quantity of light. A mechanical shutter driving feature acquiring unit(1060) gets an operation property of a mechanical leading curtain or a mechanical trailing curtain with the comparison of the second quantity of light and the first quantity of light. An electronic leading curtain unit(1070) forms an electronic leading curtain.
