PURPOSE: Functional timber is provided to prevent timber from being cracked by water. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing functional timber comprises the following steps. PEG 2~80wt% of molecular weight 200~4000 for alcohol 100 is put into alcohols such as stearyl alcohol and ethyl alcohol. The mixed solution is heated at 50~60°C for ten minutes to completely melt PEG. Timber is dipped in the PEG solution for between 30 minutes and 24 hours. Samples whose reaction ends are dried in a dryer which sets a temperature at 80°C to manufacture functional timber. When the timber is dipped, the timber is reacted in an ultrasonic wave device. When the timber is dipped, the timber is reacted under a vacuum condition. Flame retardant 1~5% is added when the PEG solution is manufactured. |
