PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to control a viewing angle by implementing wide/narrow viewing angle switch. CONSTITUTION: A lower substrate(GLS1) comprises a lower common electrode(Ecd). The lower common electrode forms a pixel electrode and a fringe field. An upper substrate(GLS2) comprises an upper common electrode(Ecu) A liquid crystal layer is located between the upper substrate and the lower substrate. A common voltage generator generates the upper common voltage which has same or different from the lower common voltage.
