PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing cardamonin for skin whitening is provided to suppress Wnt signal relating to signal transduction and to ensure stability without toxicity. CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic composition for skin whitening contains 0.000001-10.0 weight% of cardamonin of chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient. The cardamonin is isolated from Alpinia katsumadai HAYATA or Boesenbergia pandurate. The cosmetic composition is used in the form of skin softener, lotion, cream, essence, gel, ointment, foam, pack, emulsion, foundation, make up base, soap, sun screen, or sun oil. The cosmetic composition further contains water, surfactant, moisturizer, low alcohol, chelate, anti-oxidant, antiseptic, coloring agent or perfume.
