The invention relates to biotechnology, in particular to a method for quantitative determination of algal acid and sulphated exopolysaccharides in the culture fluid.The method includes separation of algal biomass from the culture fluid, acetone precipitation of exopolysaccharides in the ratio of 1:(2.5...3.0), separation of the precipitate by centrifugation, washing thereof with 80...85% ethanol solution, containing 0.05M CaCl2, addition to the precipitate of an acid solution of alcian blue with pH 2.5...2.6 for the determination of acid exopolysaccharides and with pH 1.0...1.5 for the determination of sulphated exopolysaccharides, centrifugation with subsequent spectrophotometry of supernatant at a wavelength of 600...610 nm. The quantitative content of acid and sulphated exopolysaccharides is determined by the difference between the optical density of control and test sample, at the same time as control sample is used centrifuged solution of alcian blue.
