<p>A limited slip differential having an apparatus for purging contaminants from a lubricant pocket, is disclosed. The apparatus for purging contaminants from a lubricant pocket comprises: a passage; and a valve element positioned fluidly between the lubricant pocket and the passage. The valve element is displaceable between a first position, an intermediate position, and a second position in response to a control feature of the apparatus. The valve element is biased towards the first position. In use the valve element allows a flow of lubricant from the lubricant pocket to the passage when in the intermediate position, and the valve element prevents a flow of lubricant from the lubricant pocket to the passage when in the first or second positions.</p> |
