Provided is the use of an acid oligosaccharide and neutral oligosaccharide in the manufacture of a composition for i) stimulation of the immune system in patients suffering from AIDS and/or HIV infection or ii) treatment and/or prevention of AIDS and/or HIV infection wherein the acid oligosaccharide is prepared from pectin or alginate and the neutral oligosaccharide is selected from the group consisting of fructooligosaccharides, galactooligosaccharides and transgalactooligosaccharides and the nutritional composition comprises fat, protein and carbohydrate.
