A system for the manufacture of steamed-pressed long fibre reconsolidated wood products 100, comprises a bonding agent application system 40 for applying bonding agent to a scrim log material mat, the bonding agent application system further comprising a bonding agent application roller press mechanism which compresses the scrim log material mat to further open any fissures or cracks within the scrim log material mat in order to aid in the uniform application of the bonding agent onto the scrim log material mat, a drying system 45 comprising a conveyor for transporting the scrim log material mat through the drying system 45, where the speed of the conveyor and the heat output by the drying system are regulated, an incremental mat cut-off system where the scrim log material mat is cut to a predetermined size to form a cut mat, a scrim log material mat lay-up system 50a, a scrim log material mat pre-press system for further formation of the scrim log material mat, the pre-press system 55 comprising heat conducting platens, and a steam press chamber 55 configured to receive the cut mat and release a predetermined volume of steam in order to cure the bonding agent that has been applied to the cut mat. The steam press chamber 55 further comprises a pressing mechanism configured to compress the cut mat to a predetermined thickness and density. |
