The invention relates to a method for producing paper with internal sizing, comprising the following steps consisting in: a) preparing cellulose fibres, b) treating the fibres obtained in step a) with an enzyme-mediator system comprising a laccase-type oxidative enzyme and a mediator which is a natural or synthetic product containing a phenol group or an alcohol in the structure thereof, and c) producing paper using the treated fibres.
