The stabilizer (1) has an actuator (2) positioned between stabilizer sections (3, 4) and designed as an electrical machine. A control unit (11) is provided for controlling the actuator, where transistors of the control unit are closed during occurrence of a safety-relevant event until relays attached to the actuator are closed. The relays are closed in an unpowered condition, and an energy storage unit is integrated into the control unit and stores energy. A mechanical brake mechanism is attached to the actuator and applies brake on a shaft of the actuator.
