Apparatus for making endotracheal tubes, said apparatus comprising: (a) polymer source means (5); (b) a cylindrical mandrel (1) having a surface coating of a release agent (2); (c) rotation means (3) operable to rotate said mandrel; (d) metering pump means (9) having a flexible tubing nozzle (11), said pump means being arranged to receive polymer from said source means and to supply polymer to said mandrel; (e) cross feed means operable to permit longitudinal traversal of said mandrel by said pump means and nozzle; (f) control means (13) operable to regulate deposition of polymer on said mandrel; and (g) means for disposing a coil spring (27) about said mandrel.
