PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate reducing alternate current loss of a superconducting wire, a method for producing the substrate, a superconducting wire, and a method for producing the superconducting wire.SOLUTION: The substrate includes: a copper layer; an alloy layer formed on the copper layer and containing copper and nickel; a nickel layer formed on the alloy layer; and an intermediate layer formed on the nickel layer. A nickel concentration in the alloy layer at an interface between the alloy layer and the copper layer is smaller than that in the alloy layer at an interface between the alloy layer and the nickel layer.
