PURPOSE: An environmentally-friendly refining agent for pre-treating cotton fabric is provided to save energy and to reduce waste water generation. CONSTITUTION: A refining agent for pre-treating cotton fabric contains a protease isolated from bristle worm as an active ingredient. The refining agent further contains permeate. A refining method comprises a step of mixing 500-700 weight parts of water of low temperature and 1-7 refining agent based on 100 weight parts of fabric, and a step of mixing 500-700 weight parts of water, 1-5 weight parts of soda ash and 1-3 weight parts of permeate based on 100 weight parts of the refined fabric and refining again.
