FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: the column has a well regulated structure of moulded plates oriented in parallel with the column shaft. The packing comprises a bundle of strips passing in the column shaft. Each strip consists of a stack of packing members, the adjacent members, relevant to different strips, make up a packing section passing perpendicularly to the column shaft. Each packing member is composed of layers formed by the plates. The layers are oriented in such a way that slotted or channeled hollows between the plates from one side are limited by the plates of adjacent packing members located across, which belong to the same packing section. Columns with packings may be used for chemical reactions, in particular, catalytic reactions may be performed in such columns, the packing surface is coated by catalytically active substances.
