A sleep apnea syndrome examination device includes an analysis unit that analyzes every unit time an acoustic signal for an examinee to cause at the sleeping time; a judgment unit that judges whether a characteristic sound or respiratory sound is contained in the unit time acoustic signal caused at the time when a sleep apnea syndrome patient recovers an respiration condition from an apnea condition, judges that a sleeping condition of the examinee is "the apnea condition" seen from the unit time acoustic signal in the case where the characteristic sound is contained in the unit time acoustic signal, judges that the sleeping condition of the examinee during the unit time is "the respiration present condition" in the case where the characteristic sound is not contained but the respiration sound is contained in the unit time acoustic signal, and judges that a sleeping condition of the examinee during the unit time is "the respiration absent condition" in the case where neither the characteristic sound nor the respiration sound is contained in the unit time acoustic signal; a storage unit that stores a sleeping condition of the examinee every unit time; and a detection unit that detects the apnea condition of the examinee in the case where a history of the examinee shifts at least from "the respiration non-existence condition" to "an apnea restoring condition".
