The device (1) has an electrically operated feed unit (9) and a pneumatic drilling drive (7) provided in a drill (5). The drive is operated with compressed air supplied over a flexible, detachable compressed air supply line (18). An electrically fed control- and/or regulation device (11) automatically monitors a drilling process. An energy storage e.g. lithium polymer accumulator (21), is arranged within an area of a housing (2) for providing electrical supply for the regulation device, where the storage comprises a discharge protection circuit with a switching element e.g. relay. The energy storage is designed as a nickel metal hydride accumulator, nickel cadmium accumulator or lead acid gel accumulator. The switching element is designed as a semiconductor switch.
