PURPOSE: A thin film type solar cell and a method for manufacturing the thin film type solar cell are provided to increase an optical transmission rate by forming optical transmitting water-repellent layers on both surfaces of a pn junction. CONSTITUTION: A texturing surface treatment is implemented with respect to a crystalline based silicon wafer which is an n-type semiconductor layer. Pn junctions(50, 52) are formed by an amorphous based p-type silicon layer deposited on one surface of the crystalline based silicon wafer and an amorphous based n-type silicon layer deposited on another surface. Transparent surface electrodes(40, 42) are formed. A pattern electrode is formed on surface electrodes or an optical transmitting water-repellent layer.
