PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-purity carbon nanotube which can be produced through simple purification by synthesizing crude soot by arc discharge so that graphite is hardly contained in the crude soot right after synthesized, and to provide a method for producing the carbon nanotube.SOLUTION: The method for producing the carbon nanotube comprises the steps of: heating, burning and oxidizing the carbon nanotube-containing soot, which is produced by arc discharge using an anode comprising amorphous carbon as a main component, in the atmosphere at ≥350°C; immersing/treating the oxidized soot in an acid; heating, burning and oxidizing the immersed soot in the atmosphere at the temperature which is equal to or higher than that at the preceding heating, burning and oxidizing step and is ≥500°C; and immersing/treating the oxidized soot in the acid again. |
