UNDERWATER BRANCHING UNIT OF OPTICAL ADD/DROP MULTIPLEXER, CORRESPONDING OPTICAL TRANSMISSION METHOD AND SYSTEM THEREOF

An underwater branching unit of optical add/drop multiplexer, corresponding optical transmission method and system thereof. The method comprises: separating partial optical channels with different wavelengths from two trunk-line optical fibers respectively, coupling the partial optical channels with different wavelengths, and transmitting the coupled optical channels to a branch-line terminal station through one optical fiber; separating the optical signals with different wavelengths which are transmitted through one optical fiber from the branch-line terminal station according to the wavelength, transmitting the separated optical signals respectively into two trunk-line optical fibers; separating the optical signal and dummy compensation light which are transmitted through one optical fiber from the branch-line terminal station; coupling the separated dummy compensation light and the partial optical channels with different wavelengths which are separated respectively from two trunk-line optical fibers, and transmitting the coupled light to the branch-line terminal station through one optical fiber. The complexity and the cost of the underwater branching unit of optical add/drop multiplexer can be reduced by decreasing the number of the required optical fibers. Meanwhile, the optical power of the branch-line can be controlled.
