A photovoltaic array comprises a photovoltaic panel and a framework element for supporting the panel, the panel having at least one distinctive feature, electrodes of positive and negative electrical polarity, and at least one keying feature located on each panel in a location spaced from the electrodes on that panel. The keying feature is disposed in a predetermined relationship with respect to the distinctive feature of the panel. The framework element having has at least one distinctive feature and a keying feature disposed thereon, the keying feature on the framework element being complementary to the keying feature on the panel. The keying features are arranged on the panel and on the framework element such that when the panel is mounted to the framework element the respective keying features are in cooperative association with each other, whereby the distinctive feature on the panel occupies a predetermined positional relationship with respect to the distinctive feature on the framework element. |
