The method involves transporting a fabric web (1) at a rotary application roll, and moistening the application roll with liquor (2) such that the liquor is applied on the fabric web. A portion of the liquor moistening the roll is stripped by a flexible band (8) that rests against a portion of a periphery part (6) of the application roll around an angle of deflection (beta), where the angle of deflection is varied and the band is made of polyethylene terephthalate or nickel coated foil. An independent claim is also included for a device for fitting a fabric web.
