PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double directional seal assembly with a locking means usable in different sealing conditions including different medium, viscosity, or speed, where a primary seal endures to higher pressure during a time when a secondary seal is exposed to lower pressure, the primary seal and the secondary seal being combined for bringing important advantages.SOLUTION: The seal assembly 10 includes the primary seal 12 activated by a spring 16, and the secondary seal 14 activated by a second spring 18. The primary seal and the secondary seal are constructed to seal a shaft 20. A locking ring 22 retains the seal assembly 10 in a housing 24 and holds the first spring 16 in a seal cavity 70 of the primary seal 12. The secondary spring 18 is positioned in a secondary seal cavity 72. A seal body 13 and/or the locking ring 22 is also sealed to the housing 13. Thus, a whole seal chamber is sealed against leakage along the shaft and the inside surface of the housing 24. |
