PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a xenon short arc lamp with a long lifetime, in which generation of a flicker phenomenon is suppressed for a long time by preventing formation of unevenness at the tip face of a negative electrode for a long time after lighting the lamp.SOLUTION: The xenon short arc lamp for a digital projector includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode having a negative electrode body consisting of tungsten having an electron-emitting material, and an arc tube of quartz glass. The lamp has a supply source of carbon at a metal portion inside the arc tube except for the negative electrode tip region, and carbon is supplied to the negative electrode tip through a gas phase during lighting of the lamp, and the surface layer of the negative electrode melts, or the negative electrode has a phase of stripe shape of carbide of tungsten in the phase of tungsten (W) in the surface layer at the tip face. |
