摘要 Disclosed are stainless steel for a fuel cell, which has excellent corrosion resistance over a wide potential range, and a method for producing the stainless steel for a fuel cell. Specifically disclosed is stainless steel for a fuel cell, which is obtained by forming a coating film that has an intensity ratio [(OO/OH)/(Cr/Fe)] as determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis of not less than 1.0 on the surface of stainless steel containing not less than 16% by mass of Cr, preferably on the surface of stainless steel that contains, in mass%, not more than 0.03% of C, not more than 1.0% of Si, not more than 1.0% of Mn, not more than 0.01% of S, not more than 0.05% of P, not more than 0.20% of Al, not more than 0.03% of N, 20-40% of Cr and not more than 1.0% in total of at least one element selected from among Nb, Ti and Zr, with the balance made up of Fe and unavoidable impurities, by performing anodic electrolysis in an electrolyte solution.
