The present invention relates to a digital video recorder system which classifies sounds detected by a microphone according to types and stores images of an area that produces sound, thereby helping a user search an image by the type of sound and achieving a quicker image search; and an operating method thereof. The present invention comprises: a camera to which an image is inputted; a microphone to which sound is inputted; a sound image input unit for converting an inputted image and sound from the camera and microphone into digital signals; a sound recognizing unit for analyzing the sound which has been converted into the digital signal in order to distinguish the type of sound; an image management unit for managing an image of an area that produced a particular sound; a sound image file storage unit for creating an image file of the area that produced the particular sound and then storing in a database; an image DB for storing a general image recorded file; a sound image DB for storing the image file of the area that produces sound; a sound image information DB for saving information on image files by the type of sound; a sound image search unit for searching of an image file stored in the image DB, the sound image DB and the sound image information DB, in response to an image file search request; and a sound image display management unit connected to a user interface, for providing an image file search function and reproducing a searched image file. |
