PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve encoding efficiency of image data by providing an encoding process selector.SOLUTION: In an image processing apparatus, a code selector 410 compares code data based on a reversible model with a code amount of code data based on an irreversible model, and selects the one with the smaller code amount. An encoding process selector 420 determines which of the reversible model or the irreversible model is used to generate code data with higher encoding efficiency, based on feature information of image data inputted from a first conversion selector 300 (Fig.3), or an irreversible part 304. The encoding process selector 420 outputs the image data to a prediction encoding part 400 when determined the reversible model is used, and for the rest, outputs the image data to a picture element value extracting part 404 and a bitmap generating part 406. |
