PURPOSE: An apparatus for a lean burn engine is provided to easily inform a driver of disorder caused by the damage of a diaphragm in an actuator for a swirl control valve(SCV) applied to a lean burn engine. CONSTITUTION: A disorder of an SCV actuator is detected by the steps of: keeping the vacuum pressure in an SCV actuator during a specific time by connecting pipes between the actuator and the vacuum pressure if a three-way solenoid valve is on by feeding electric power from a main relay immediately after turning off a lean burn engine; and indicating the normality of a diaphragm if a rotor has been contacted to a second sensor during a certain time, or indicating the damage of the diaphragm.
