PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polymer having a sulfinic acid group, P-(SO)X (X is a monovalent (n=1), bivalent (n=2), or trivalent (n=3) metal cation, H, or an ammonium ion, NR(R is alkyl, aryl, or H)) and a sulfohalide group, SOY group (Y is F, Cl, Br, or I).SOLUTION: A polymer containing a SOY group (Y is F, Cl, Br, or I) is dissolved or suspended in an organic solvent or water, and a reducing agent is added by being diluted with an organic solvent or water or dissolved in pure form, or as a solid. Partial reduction is performed depending on the amount of the reducing agent and/or reduction time and/or reduction temperature. The obtained polymer containing a sulfinate group and an SOY group is precipitated by a precipitant, then filtered, and isolated by being dried. The sulfinate group cannot be produced by the reaction of sulfur dioxide and an organometallic modified polymer. |
