PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire-cut electric discharge machine which has a function to suppress production of streaks at a portion where a change in the thickness of a workpiece occurs during finish machining.SOLUTION: This wire-cut electric discharge machine performs electric discharge machining by repeatedly applying pulse voltages to the gap between a wire electrode 4 and a workpiece 5 from a main pulse generator 1 to generate electric discharge so as to input a specified discharge energy for each relative movement into the gap. The wire-cut electric discharge machine includes a machining distance calculation device 11, a main pulse number counter 12 for counting the number of the main pulses input from the main pulse generator 1 thereinto during machining at a predetermined distance, a plate thickness change detection device 14 for detecting a change in the plate thickness of the workpiece 5 based on the detected number of pulses, and a discharge downtime control device 16 which instructs preset machining conditions, when it is detected that the plate thickness of the workpiece 5 is not changed, and which adjusts the machining conditions so that the energy input from the main pulse generator 1 thereinto is reduced when the change in the plate thickness is detected. |
