The present invention discloses, in certain aspects, to a window unit mountable interiorly of an exterior window pane and which has an interior removable additional pane positionable with the additional pane spaced-apart from the exterior pane; and in one aspect such a unit is a shutter unit having a body and a shutter movably connected to the body, the shutter having one or more movable louvers. The present invention discloses, in certain aspects, a method for sealing an opening in a shutter unit, the shutter unit having a body and a shutter movably connected to the, body, the shutter having a pane connected thereto, the pane sized and configured to close off the opening, the method including moving the shutter with respect to the body to move the pane to, into, and/or adjacent the opening so that the pane closes off the opening.
