The device (2) is movable from a resting position, in which the device lies in a surface of a motor vehicle, into an operative position, in which the device projects over the surface of the vehicle, by negative pressure that is developed during high vehicle speed. The device is brought from the operative position into the resting position by a resetting mechanism (3) i.e. spring, and is integrated in a bumper covering. An auxiliary device e.g. electric motor, electromagnet, hydraulic device or pneumatic device, supports movement of the device from the resting position.
