The device has a device part heated at operating temperature during operation of the device and designed as a stator or a rotor. A cooling device (11) comprises a heat reservoir with phase change materials (13) for cooling the device, where the phase change materials exhibit phase conversion temperature in an operating range of the operating temperature. The heat reservoir comprises a closed container (12), and a heat pipe is arranged above a contact surface of the container. The phase change materials are metals such as tin, lead or bismuth, or metal alloys. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an electromechanical device.
