PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcing structure which makes smaller an overhang from a lining internal surface of an existing tunnel to an internal surface of the tunnel, and achieves a simplified structure, quick construction and securement of clearance limit. SOLUTION: A reinforcing face plate for a steel structure, a reinforced concrete structure, or a composite construction arranged along the lining internal surface of the existing tunnel, is partitively produced in circumferential and axial directions of the tunnel, and formed of half-arched segments 7 having a rear-side outermost edge which is almost similar in shape to the lining internal surface. The half-arched segment 7 is an arch 7a with a non-uniform section, which is formed of a reinforcing steel plate 17 with a non-uniform section such that a portion around the top of the lining internal surface is constituted of a relatively thin member and that a portion around a spring line 14 is constituted of a relatively radially thick member to an extent that does not violate the clearance limit of the tunnel. The adjacent segments 7 are connected together by a segment joint, and a gap between the segment rear surface and the lining internal surface is partially or entirely filled with a grout material 20.
