A door retaining device for retaining a door in an upright orientation at its closed position within a door frame is disclosed. A door retaining device comprises first and second mounting members, each mounting member being adapted to be fixed to either of a respective one of the door leaf and the door frame. The first mounting member has a cam surface 118, 120 and the second mounting member has a cam member 132 adapted to move translationally against the cam surface. The device ensures that a door which is fitted with two-way hinges 170, which allow the door to swing in opposite directions, remains upright when the door is in a closed position. The device may be fitted to fire doors to ensure that the door naturally moves to a proper closed position. |
