PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of obtaining stable image quality, without density difference, blurs, collapse, or the like, irrespective of the working accuracy of a rotational body, wear with the lapse of time, or the like. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus which is provided with a photoreceptor 1, a developing roller 4 brought into contact with the photoreceptor, a transfer roller 5, and a transfer roller 7 and which develops a latent image formed on the photoreceptor 1 using a liquid developer dispersed in a carrier liquid, the image forming apparatus is provided with an optical sensor 31 for detecting the rotational speed of the photoreceptor 1; optical sensors 35, 36, and 37 for detecting the rotational speeds of the developing roller 4, the transfer roller 5, and the transfer roller 7; and a CPU 50 for controlling the rotational speeds of the developing roller 4, the transfer roller 5, and the transfer roller 7, on the basis of the detection result of the optical sensors 31, 35, 36, and 37.
